  1. Recently read Lolita after I finally found it. Before that I had found Pale Fire but its cryptic metafiction made sure that I did not read more than 30 lines of the poem and ten pages of commentary. Pale Fire is an overrated experiment but Lolita is a haunting masterpiece. I love Humbert’s unrestrained frankness. Lolita is a treasure trove of amazing phrases. My favorite is “Bubble of happiness” which refers to Humbert’s first intimate moment with Lolita at Charlotte’s home.
